Gmail vs slack

It's been almost a month at my new job and among other things, the transition from email to slack for internal conversations has been very very interesting.

previously everything had to be on email for it to be considered legit, slack was also there but not an official channel. now it is slack and only slack, personally prefer this.

Slack has overall better UX than mail but sometimes it can get distracting because you are flooded with notifications and usual expectation with slack is to respond relatively quickly

Agreed. Getting tagged in a group for a one time task and then forever receiving it's notifications is quite distracting and useless

You can set the notification to only notify you when mentioned.

Also for channels they now have a feature to show only either started channels or non-starter channels when some activity happens in the channel.
