Google SWE L5 or Application Engineer L6?
Recently, I was interviewed by Google. At the end of the process, based on my interview feedback, I was asked to choose between the following two options:
Software Engineer L5 Application Engineer L6
YOE 13 years
Please suggest which role I should consider? I don't have much knowledge for the roles and responsibilities of an Application Engineer at Google.

Simple. Ask the recruiter which role pays highest, which team has better chances of promo, determine which team has less work pressure

I didn’t know they ask which role. I always thought the role they decide to i terview you for at the start of a process is the exact role they offer

At 13 yoe you shouldn't go for L5.
L3 to L4 usually takes 2-4 years and same for L4 to L5.
This is clear low balling by Google.
I am planning to take L6 AE
any idea about AE roles and responsibilities? I have seen one L6 AE job post in google career site, it's looks promising,
Is internal switch possible from L6 AE to L6 SWE?
