Got billable to the client

So I joined Accolite digital as a swe intern for 6 months internship + FTE Role. Later they put an extension to our internship and delayed our full time offers so far they had extended our internship twice. And it's been 8 months since I am interning there. My manager is more than satisfied with my performance also I am one of the few interns who have been assigned to a project (the rest are benched). So my manager just informed me that I have been made billable to the US clients along with some other interns . From my project I am the only one to be made billable. Is this a good thing? Does this make my chances of getting an FTE better? Or should I not have any hope . Looking for some guidance!!!

Most probably, yes. You will work on project and after sometime you will be an important asset.

I am already working on the project, infact I was the first intern to get assigned one. And I have made significant contributions. They have already extended it enough should I again contact my manager and ask him to push more? But I am hesitant as I have contacted him numerous times and he told me that it will take some time as higher management is still looking into it.

How long have you been working on this project?

I wonder how one can make interns billable. Sounds like they are trying to save money by billing clients for an FTE and paying you intern salary.

Yup that's the case
