Helicopter Crashes in Kedarnath During Airlift by MI-17 Chopper

• A defective helicopter being airlifted from Kedarnath to Gauchar by an Indian Air Force MI-17 chopper crashed this morning, officials said.
• The private helicopter crashed near the Mandakini River in Lincholi; no injuries were reported, and the incident was caught on camera.
• The MI-17 aircraft lost balance due to the helicopter's weight and wind, prompting the pilot to drop it at a vacant spot, according to district tourism officer Rahul Chaubey.
• The helicopter had previously made an emergency landing near the Kedarnath helipad in May due to technical faults and was involved in ferrying passengers to the Kedarnath temple.
• Heavy rains have caused extensive damage to the trek route to Kedarnath, leading to a sharp drop in pilgrim numbers and necessitating rescue operations by the Air Force and private choppers.
