How can I get my life on track? What should I do in this situation?

my_qualification: B.Tech IT from tier-3 college. 70% I am 24 years old. I graduated in 2021 and had total 13 backlogs during UG and it took me 5 years to complete my degree. I am unemployed since my graduation and have been wasting my time on learning random things or multiple technologies at a same time. 2 months ago I decided to go to Canada for masters and my family supported me, my friend suggested me MS Data Science because he is Data Scientist in Canada. So, I gave IELTS in March and scored 7 band. Recently I had a talk with an Agency named Canam. And they suggested me to get Experience Letter + offer letter + LOR from employer + last 6 months payslip also Backlog Certificate from college but I don't have any of these things. What should I do in this situation? How should I move forward? How can I get my life on track? I'm just confused and not sure what should I do.

Learn easy things like javascript and learn react. Apply for remote jobs in very very small startup, like with 5-10 people. They wont care about experience or your backlogs as long as you can code. Gain some experience and money and from that point onwards it will get much easier. Lots of opportunities in India and remote jobs, dont dig yourself a hole by going canada, u won't have a support system if u get laid off early in your career.

I've been trying to learn frontend development from theodinproject.com and have learnt HTML, CSS JavaScript and ReactJS and have been building Projects. Where i can find remote jobs in very very small startup. I've been applying on wellfound, instahyre, hirist, hirect and LinkedIn but not getting callback from anywhere. Thanks for advice, i appreciate it.

I started working from a very young age, no degrees, nothing.

I upskilled, built products which gave me motivation to learn while also making my portfolio stronger. I pitched to companies and freelance clients with my portfolio and skills and usually always got the job. Don't go for the biggest, go for what works best for you at that time.

Can't rush to victory, so take one step at a time, it usually works out

That's so awesome! How did you do it? How can I start if I'm totally newbie which I think I am.

Pick a stack, start building out ideas, fail and repeat until it works out

There's no easy way, just try and fail until you win

I have been in similar position as you.

So a few pointers

  • Decide what career path you are interested in frontend , backend , devops , tech sales etc
  • Start upskilling in that area,
  • parallely start searching jobs in the same field , ( don't demand salary , you need to break into the job market ) find a company where you can learn well
  • stay there for 2 years ( considered decent experience )
  • then switch demand the salary you want , after 2 years of experience your marksheet will matter less and skill set more
  • don't choose a job in different field of interest for money, you will end up wasting time and regret later
  • for the first two years keep your head down and learn , don't fall in salary trap ( you might see your friends boasting of salary, on social media )
  • remember you are here for a long game , plan and execute accordingly

Masters will not help you in any way

Key for you is to start working. Doesn't matter which company, or whatever designation. Get your ass moving.

Even if it's tech support role? Or BPO something?

No, something to do with coding.
