How does it feel to be unemployed?

I’m honestly tired of this BS.. you do everything that’s possible, ace interviews, and then be given a long ass assignment, only to spend day and night completing it and then getting an email saying

“Thank you for your time and interest, however we have decided to move forward with other candidates”

I have been doing this for the last 3-4 months and it sucks.

Initially I applied to only startups because I love working in small hyper agile teams but this is the scam most perpetrate in the name of assignments…

I have even stopped doing these assignments and tell them upfront sorry I won’t be able to do an assignment given my schedule as im interviewing elsewhere too. please let me know if we can explore this step in any other ways such as live brainstorming or whiteboarding exercises..

And now that I have started applying to bigger firms, they receive so many applications that most of the recruiters just source from their referral pool.

I have been sending connect requests to like 50 people in an organisation and most just accept the request while completely ignoring the message.

Like the strike rate is 1% for every 100 requests you make.

And oh Im done with these so called star recruiters with thousands of followers who say, DM if youre interested only to later figure out that is just engagement farming and increasing their followers.

Same with twitter people who work at diff organisations as designers (in my case, usually below 3k followers) who say DM if youre interested and to the extent where I have even tagged them / commented on their posts , they turn a blind eye.

Same with emails.

What is it? Why are they doing it? Is it office politics? Ego Trip? Power games? I don’t understand why anyone would not even help with a basic thing such as referral which would earn them a bonus too if selected. (and im not reaching out to folks with super followers btw, just regular folks)

Please kind folks of Grapevine, Can you HELP🙏🏼

I also have similar experience in reaching out to people. Once there was an opening in expedia, I immediately jumped to text my connections working there but nobody replied. Even people who immediately accept the request didn’t respond including alumni from my own college. I had properly written my appeal and waited hoping to get a reply but the job got expired. This is one just instance. Now I feel like linkedin chat is one such useless feature that doesn’t help any job seekers.

Idk why…that’s why I asked this question, how does it feel to be unemployed…anyone who has gone thru this experience, would have some bit of empathy and reply…and help fellow people..

And in my experience, the more the followers the bigger the problem, ego etc, just pure engagement farming

And the bigger the company or the smaller the company (in terms of like reputation or salaries) the lesser chances of getting a reply.

Ideally a company with 250-1000 employees

Maybe go for higher education?

And in my experience, Meesho has been the toughest and most unapproachable company..

Have literally done everything..from emails to DMs etc

People there keep posting constantly there hiring, tell DM and Email us on xyz@meesho.com

I have seen other posts on Grapevine too that they have never got a reply from Meesho.

Not to look down upon anyone, my knowledge and portfolio can hands down rival most designers at Meesho but still get no response and get rejected.

Maybe this is just me being salty

Sorry for the rant, needed to get this off my chest and mind
