How risky is it to start over in a field where I have zero experience

The opportunity is exciting but terrifying. Has anyone successfully pivoted to a new industry mid-career? What challenges should I expect?

Yo from banking to tech after a decade of experience. It’s terrifying at first but things will fall in place if you work smartly.
Challenge is you don’t anything so you have to constantly play a catchup game to make sure you are on same page as your peers and keep on upskilling. You’ll have to look dumb and ask silly questions. You’ll have to be vulnerable and declare that you don’t know things do you need time but give assurance that you’ll find the solution. Put aside your ego and learn for people much junior or younger than yourself. Have to accept that your opinions might be overlooked as team knows you don’t have much knowledge. You’ll find it hard to add value to each conversations.
But again all this is manageable if you work hard.
