Are these websites fooling people? Or anyone is getting matches and getting married through these apps. Are there fake profiles as well? And how to protect from scams. Thanks!
Most of the marriages around me are done through freelancing middle men who show matches.. I have only seen one couple getting married through marriage site and that too it was for second marriage.. till a level I can understand elite matrimonial sites but what about normal matrimonial sites... are people really getting married through marriage sites how many marriages are happening through sites.. how they are earning so much revenue through marriage sites?
As someone who is seeing this from close in building a regional matrimony site, I can answer this. The economics of middle class public is very big
India is more like multiple countries within a big country. So within one regional group there is enough market size. Word of mouth is the best advt.bafew sucess stories or a key member /group of the community putting in a good word is more than enough. For the site you build. Cost of running it is very minimal.
Men outnumber women. So getting women to list is very tough. One pattern I notice is women above age of 25, usually come to list. Women above age 28, become repeat subscriber untill then hit 35, then the crowd tapers. Women choosing your site as first level search is very difficult untill you get established. Getting men to list is easiest. The ratio is mind boggling within certain communities.
Biggest risk is getting branded as a site for a certain community. But eventually it will happen.
Keep the cost to minimum, you got yourself and ATM.

What are some points to take care of when getting married through an arranged marriage setup?
It's the same story with so many platforms. They start off well, then start making it difficult for users over time to get matches. Eventually it becomes pay-to-match completely, especially for men.

It was really raining overqualified guys on the platform.

Am in my mid 30s from south working in Mumbai for a PSU. I’ve been declined in matrimony websites owing to location and perception of PSU. Is this the new normal?
