What's the concern?

I am about to report to mgr who has a surname of Pak, mid east region. I am little concerned about it. I know i should think with broad mind. But checking if there are any hacks. 😬

I understand, but what's the concern?

There’s no hack honestly. In a corporate environment everyone is the same. I have met Pakistanis when I studied abroad. They are honestly not that different from us in terms of cultural background, education system and family structure. You will probably have more in common than there are differences.

Do keep in mind a lot of the enmity against the Pakistanis is manufactured and kept alive by politicians in both countries. Ordinary people in both sides are trying to live their lives.

My friends working in Dubai have Pakistani coworkers and bosses. They are doing absolutely fine. In fact they watch Ind-Pak matches and go out for lunches together.

Ok. That’s sweet to know. Getting some positive momentum.

Just a word of caution to have any anti-Pak posts on your public social media profile removed if any. You don't want to make the other side have a prejudice on you as well. In today's extreme polarization your boss also maybe trying to check what kinda person you are. Mainly LinkedIn and Twitter.

Not sure why this question. Have worked with Pakistani colleagues and managers for 3 years in the Middle-East. As far as your work is fine, nothing should bother. Would request to avoid getting into geo-political discussion, as you never know how it might turn out. You can discuss endless cricket with them, even troll players, there would be no harm doing that.

They are very cordial people, don’t worry much about it.
