Increment this year?

Since we are seeing a lot of layoffs, a lot of companies are using this as an excuse to provide less increment this year. Interested to know what sort of increments are you’ll getting this year and how much did you get last year?

I got a good hike this year. Around 34% mostly because I got promoted and my hike in the previous year was shit. I work in finance

Has it affected your motivation to work? Are you looking out for other opportunities because of this?

I don't think anything has changed for me. I understand the market situation and how it works. As long as I am employeed and paid according to the market. I am fine.

~15% this year ~35-40% last year

Felt the hike wasn’t enough last year because fresher salaries are shit here. Definitely not enough this year.
Thinking of switching after a few months.

Stuck with the company because: -decent culture
-almost no micromanaging by manager & TL -actually flexible hours, no one cares as long as you get quality work done

Which company?

Hey @genetackovic , in a similar boat. What factors are influencing your willingness to switch?

DancingNoodle

10% but I consider it (10% - Inflation) ≈ 2 to 3% net

ZestyDonut

10% - 3% tax - 7% inflation = 0% hike 🥲

Why 3% tax?

Joined in 2021 july, We got no hike last year due to some increment policy I wont get into that, this year everyone around me got a 20 percent, I got a 10% despite of getting the highest overall rating by my manager in the team and received multiple performance awards in the last 1.5 years. Make it make sense 😂

9%. Increments in my team have gone upto 15%.ofcourse its on base and not RSUs so effective would be about 70% of this.

I was surprised by the increment I got this year considering the market scenario and my salary being already high

My base salary jumped from 60 lpa to 70 lpa (17%) while bonus target remained mostly the same.

The biggest surprise came in terms of stock where I got my largest ever grant - larger than the one I got for my promotion last year and larger than my initial joining grant. The initial grant that I got at joining is expiring in 3 months so this was a compensation for it; but still it was very surprising to see such a huge grant in this market scenario. My stock based compensation increased by about 25% for this year.

What is your specialisation? And how many years of experience do you have? @TechBro

DancingNoodle

Closing in on 8 years of professional work experience

Only real specialisation I think I have is in online shitposting; although to be getting paid this much I think I might be half decent in B2C mobile engineering. Which does not matter that much, what matters ultimately is just the amount of ownership you take - can the manager/company leave some aspect entirely upto you and forget about it completely trusting you to take care of it
