If you are planning to hold for the long term(5+ years), then it's always a good time to buy gold. If you wish to diversify then you can put some in equity + FD + gold

Also gold bonds seem to be a better option to people coz you can the same value guarantee without having to manage or hold the physical asset, so that might be helpful. But imagine, moon plot
