Is it just me, or is the hiring process at some top companies getting worse by the day?

Over the last few months, I interviewed with 5 big names – Cashfree, Rippling, Junglee Games, Sony, and Paytm – and honestly, the experience has been nothing short of frustrating and disappointing.

I cleared multiple rounds, got great feedback, and in some cases even received congratulatory calls or official confirmation emails. But when it came to the final step – the offer letter – I was either ghosted or met with endless delays.

  • At Cashfree, HR kept assuring me that the offer was coming soon and took all my documents too. It’s been over a month now, and they’re still citing “business priority changes.”
  • Sony and Junglee Games, HR initially shared interview feedback regularly. After chasing them for weeks, they said I was selected and that salary discussion would begin. After that – complete silence.
  • Paytm actually congratulated me via email* – and then went completely cold.
  • Rippling followed the same pattern: good conversations, positive signs, and then… nothing.

This isn't about rejection – that’s fair and understandable. It's about the lack of clarity, accountability, and basic courtesy in the process. Candidates spend time preparing, interviewing, waiting, and often juggling multiple opportunities. The least we deserve is honest communication.

Curious to know – has anyone else faced something similar lately? Is this a broader trend, or was I just incredibly unlucky across the board?

Would really appreciate hearing your thoughts or stories – especially if you've been on the receiving end of similar “selection but no offer” situations.

I see your frustrations and hope soon things get better for you.

BTW, I am not even getting interview calls. After reading this, I am wondering that the road to getting hired is even longer.

+1 find it difficult to get interview scheduled. Thanks to tariff stunt, things will go much slower in some companies.

I always thought devs will be the first one to be impacted by AI, but I badly want the entire hiring side of HR to be wiped out and be replaced by AI bots which understands what type of person the company needs, and creates a sensible JD, parses through the applications, schedules interviews and sends emails from time to time, be it rejection or not, so that nobody is left out in the dark.

This. Recruiters are power tripping right now, some even want me to buy their Topmate referral/guiding plan so that they will refer me to their company which they work in as a technical recruiter lmao

Same with amex gave the offer letter too and then said business has removed the vertical itself so can't hire you anymore.

Been through similar experiences in the last few months. Been ghosted by recruiters who felt I was a great fit for roles and by companies after multiple rounds. It has never taken me so many applications and interview calls to find a new role. I suspect it has to do with how uncertain the business environment is in general. Keep at it, something will work out. That’s what I tell myself anyway so that I can sleep at night.

Faced similar with Capgemini just recently, cleared both rounds, submitted docs, had hr discussion and then it's nothing

I faced same with Infosys cleared 1st round interview, got invite for 2nd round but interviewer didn't show up I waited for complete meeting duration. Then got email to submit documents and the application is in decision pending stage. Don't know what to expect.. 🤷‍♀️

Yeah. Things have gotten bad. Last year it was about markets. This year it’s all about ai and companies figuring out the actual workforce they need.

I recently given an interview.knowledge wise evrything went well. I was able to answer all questions they have . Then the panel went into salary discussion mode. As it was ops round, I asked them, I will discuss with HR.on which the interviewer told me to wait, and she pinged hr and asked Abt my current CTC
On the same zoom call after 1 min ,she told me hr told her my CTC and then asked me my expected CTC.I said i just need a fair hike to meet my living exp. After which she keep asking me personal info like, how many ppl r at my home, who will move with me etc. And guess the feedback, I am disqualified for my gap yr

The last part of the HR thing of asking so many personal things is very shitty and weird brother. I think you got lucky not getting hired there.

Also, don't submit your documents people. Just tell them that one of the companies that you had shared your documents to, for offer letter release, never responded back and you came across these private documents on the internet, and you've had a traumatic experience because of that. So, ask them to roll out the offer letter with whatever basic details they require. Once you are okay with it, you shall go ahead and share the rest of the documents along with the signed offer letter from your end.
