Manager expects 24/7 availability

My boss thinks I shud be available round the clock! Calls at odd hours, expects replies on weekends. Says it's "startup culture". Is this even legal? How to set boundaries without risking job?

Good thing they mentioned in the JD. I personally wouldn't apply for such companies if I knew beforehand about the shit work life balance they're providing
