Maybe we should just rename "Talent Acquisition" to "Talent Accusation"
Why? Because that's exactly what most of us are doing.
We accuse talent of not being good enough We accuse them of not being "culture fit" We accuse them of lacking loyalty while offering laughable salaries. We accuse them of being "lazy" or "job-hoppers" in a system designed to burn them out
We got super good pretending we are some enlightened department connecting talent to opportunity, making candidates feel "valued" In my world, a majority of my kind are treating people like transactions. Hiding behind fancy buzzwords like candidate experience or employer branding, but when it comes to actually acquiring talent? It’s rinse-and-repeat BS of 5 rounds of interviews (cause oh! we are so strict in our screening) and then automated rejection emails.
"Acquiring" Talent... TOTAL BS. What we are really doing is running them through hoops, accusing them of not measuring up, and then wondering why we can't attract top talent. Honestly - top-down, north-south, sideways, diagonally - we don’t even know what we're acquiring half the time. Most don't have a clear picture of what success looks like in the roles they're hiring for.
So yeah... Call it "Talent Accusation" until you actually deserve the title of Talent Acquisition. Until then, quit acting like you have got this sh*t figured out. Because clearly, we don't.
Thoughts?

Goddamn. Are you a TA? That is some honest speak right there.
I also feel many of recruiters are just removed from the company, and work very much like support structure. Hence they dont feel like owners
But absolutely as a candidate, recruiters are so unaware of what is right and what is wrong and feels like they just read a script on every call

Have been in this for a decently long time

While we are at this, can we talk about "well-known college degree" BS. Like wtf??? If a person didnt pay lakhs for a stupid degree somehow their knowledge and marksheets are less valuable? Disgusting

Just opened the app casually. I was not ready for this.

Wow said it like it is. See quite a bit how job descriptions are coined tediously to be delicious to pass over, and yet they will go and hire one who for no fault of theirs is sub par. I almost feel and now having seen a few instances, mgrs will never want to get the 'top' deserving talent why 'too much attitude ' is the reason for displaying confidence and knowhow. Mgrs ridden by ego and recruiters are detached from the need of the position they are working to help a mgr fill.
