Meesho layoffs
In brief- Very ambiguously choosen. Multiple reasons at play so far it looks - primarily cost, other one is trying to flatten the hierarchy quite implicit, cutting roles of pure people management & no ground impact at all, etc AMA

I’ve heard usually positive things about Meesho’s scale and unit economics.
Does this tie in with what you have seen? Is the business robust?
I guess mostly this is related to reaching Ebitda + asap since cuts showing max impact on costs, they totally overlooked the performance/impact the employee is having on projects
Did you also get impacted? I think the product team was impacted the most primarily because of overhiring done in 2021-22
Meesho will be firing 251 employees this week. I have many batchmates in this org and have heard nothing but good about this company.
Sad to see this economy claiming another victim in the form of Meesho.
Reason - the team wants to accelerate timeline to profitability To those affected really sorry this community is here for you!
There have been so many openings lately and I have applied to a bunch with product team referrals but haven't heard from them even once.
