(Men only) Private Hormonal Question

Is it true that chronic stress can permanently affect our libidos? Is it true that we might feel disgusted about something or someone we were oncr pretty eager for?

I mean , keeping the morning wood aside, I feel every other moment of arousal is dependent on a stimulus right? Then how exactly is it dependent on stress? Shouldnt it be the other way around? I mean stress should create more dependencies on sources of happiness

Probably shouldn't be permanent if the stress period is not too long.
Once you get away and recover you probably should be fine.

Chronic stress Increases cortisol levels in the body to a higher baseline than normal.

Cortisol elevates blood sugar levels and constricts blood vessels in your private part.

  • high cortisol levels in the body contribute to decreased testosterone levels which can result in decreased libido.

In simple words - Stress leads to ur body focussing on fight and flight mode and resources are diverted away from reproduction. For a short term it's not an issue the sperm count temporarily drops and comes back up. But if the stress lasts for a longer period of time the body treats that as the new default and can lead to poorer reproductive health
