Need advice on new project

I'm currently on bench and have 2 and a half years experience on .net and pl sql applications support. I've also written many production automations for my client using python. Now my manager is asking me that there is a filenet support project and whether I want to work on that. I've no idea reg filenet. When I googled it looks like database and also it looks like sterling gate way. API knowledge is needed to work in that, etc.,.

I want to know whether it's a good technology whether it has any future. Whether it's been used in multiple places, so that, if I learn it in future I will be able to apply in other places with that experience.
