Need to decide my offer/situation
I just joined a company and it's been only 2 weeks. When I accepted the offer there was another interview in pipeline and some delay was going. The result came and now I am confused what to do.
Startup (current company) TC : 27+2 (base+pf)
New Offer from a big firm: 31.5+3.15+1.51+45kUSD(Base+target bonus+pf+stocks 4yrs) = 43.87LPA Annual CTC
It's not easy as it seems. The startup (curr company) has great culture and tech stack. The product is exciting. It is part of a larger parent company.
Whereas the big firm (new offer) works on a Monolith and work mostly uses Java. Codebase is 20yrs old according to Hiring manager. And one more thing - I hate Java. Why the difference has to be so big in TC 😠I don't like to be confused. Have you ever been in such a situation? I want to relate my situation.
YoE : 2
Man both the places u are sorted pay wise. U r probably like overpaid for 2 yoe. If startup won’t do layoff then stay
They are sorted based on events. I like to be overpaid. I would forever be like to be overpaid. I would make sure to not join a place where I am not overpaid. Pardon my arrogance. Let's beat capitalism together.
Reason I am mentioning overpay is that historically companied have laid such folks off quickly and rehired ppl at discount. So choose where u r overpaid + safe
if you want to stay at your current company then maybe show offer to the current company and ask for a raise
Seriously. A raise in just 2 weeks after joining? Any such experience you faced in your life?
Don't do this, which this other guy suggested
Excellence pe dhyan do, paise piche piche aa jayegi...think long term
Thanks for replying. Have you been in such a situation? Could you give the context? It will be easier to relate to. How it worked for you or backfired.
Honestly I haven't been in this extreme situation but if I was, I would have focused on my own learning vs a few lakhs here and there...if you need money in life for whatever the reason may be, go for it but don't regret it later saying learning isn't there and all...though you also need to see the current market where a lot of start ups are struggling...if you are in a start up that's well capitalised and is doing well, then go for this role and then switch post you learn.
Startup, it is a no brainer question. No amount of money can compensate for mental peace. Mental peace can be disrupted by either a bad work culture, or a very bad/old tech stack. Codebase 20 yrs old means that must be super-old stuffs, not worth any amount of money.
At new workplace, only thing you have money which is just one thing is greater scheme of things.
P.S. - I would avoid legacy stacks if put in your place.
