Yup, I was lucky enough to use Google Glass in real. A friend got it from the employer for real-world testing.
Yes, the product was way ahead of its time. One major flaw was that the projection was on the glass itself, which in itself was small and served as a secondary screen (to phone)only. The latest glasses (Apple, Meta) are making use of hologram technology to compose screens out of the glass making it usable for mainstream work as well. So, essentially both the products are completely different.
