Planning for a 6 month career break for health and spending time with Family

I have worked hard to have a stellar profile (tier 2 Engineering graduate and tier 1 MBA graduate). I have 2 years of pre-MBA experience and will be completing 1 year post-MBA in a few months, at which point i plan on putting in my papers. Being in this rat race has taken it's toll. I am depressed and dread logging into work everyday. It's come to a point where every small task feels like a burden. I have decent amount of savings and I can support myself during the time off. My parents and friends don't seem very excited by this decision of mine, but they are not in my shoes and do not understand what I am feeling. Would love to hear other people's stories/opinions on this.

You seems to be a 25-26yrs old guy. You have good amount of time in hand. Do whatever you feel like doing. But make sure you use the time off to focus on your health.

I exactly did the same few years ago but it was for 3 months, before asking anyone else first check yourself, responsibility towards your family in different ways, like financially, socially.

You seem to be around 25-26 so consider marriage as well, how quickly you will be absorbed again in job market.

Check with doctor/therpaist first, do you really need break, I checked with my doctor and had his reco letter with me.

I have seen very close friends and family in a similar situation. Taking a break helped them recover. Dont rush back. Glad you don't have financial burden. Take a pause, see what you like to do. Take it slow. Remember that it's a marathon. Good luck.

Was from tier 2 engg college, passed out 2007, got job in PSU through all India exam and worked for 5 years there, worst in terms of work culture and growth. Quit to do an MBA in 2013-14, and since then this is my 9th year j. Corporate. Stress is definitely there bt this only makes you more stronger so wouldn't advise quitting. Rather take job in an MNC/ less stressful job and pursuit hobbies interests outside.
