Product Leadership fired
Just a month in new organisation and already lost motivation due to the upcoming layoffs. Senior Leadership of Product is laid off due to the company moving towards a different organisational view of being business led.
Started looking for a job already. If this is how private jobs work, then we'll only see people who deliver mediocre work and don't push themselves for the org.
Even the best performers will be reduced to task deliverers, as there is no assurance of anything.
Some lessons :
- Work on your finances.
- Learn the craft.
- Always keep looking out. (Gone are the days about frequent career jumps. Now-a-days you have to do it to survive).
- Don't be hard on your family. (Goes both ways. Your family member might be anxious because of their unstable job. Understand them. )
- Be helpful.
Let's hope the world is kind to everyone.

PM
Usual story in smaller organisations I think. Why do people get shocked when such sudden changes happen in smaller organisations!
I wouldn't call it shock, but a disappointment or let down after going over about everything during the interview process and just when you think you made an informed choice, they throw an announcement.
Good that more and more orgs are realising how fckedup in competent so called product managers are.
Learn an actual skill. You guys are big frauds in tech
Dude, I laughed out loud. Completely agreed. I will accept the individual contributors but a leadership vertical for product is a scam when there is already a business one.
Hmm. I further think the PM org was somehow created to stab the business in politics. It's like a political tool created by tech to suppress powers of business. Apart from lacking competencies, poor PMs survive only by doing politics as well. That somehow reinforces this idea.

Intuit Layoffs
Extremely sad. Labelling laid off folks as underperformers in public. Getting hired in this market would be a huge challenge for them now.
