Sales to Product Management role
Want to switch my career from enterprise sales, to a product management role, any pointers for the same, will be really helpful. As to ,how to go about it
Hey guys, I’m from a non-tech background working in sales (with MBA) & looking to get into PM role. Can grapevine family help/share some tips as to how can I switch to PM role?
TIA.
open a startup and give yourself title of product manager
@ultrapromax I would say go with an open mind to the CPO of your company what would it take for me to move to PM whenever opportunities come by. You can also talk to other PMs in your company to understand their pain points. Becoz knowing the product would not make u a PM and believe me there are much tougher problems that PM faces.
Thanks for the suggestion. I’ll try it out.
While I’m now in a SaaS company, selling our product, I’m fascinated with the Product demo, pitching, understanding use cases, development efforts for a new feature/enhancement requests has gained me this interest for the product. I tried internally if I can be moved to Product Specialist, but currently there are no vacancy. Hence I was checking here if someone can help?
I have deep dived in our product that many of my colleagues till today being there in system for more than 2-3yrs, ask me for clarification & I’m able to guide them right.

First thing first - Help us understand the motivation/reason behind your pivot. Second, are you ok with TC cuts (incase)?
