Hi guys , I need help to find decent place to live . My wife s expecting in December 2024. My owner has suddenly increased the rent by 30% when the clause say 5%.he has already given notice to either agree to new term Or consider it as notice period. I stay in doddanekundi in the greens apartment besides alpine eco. This is a 3rd class society. I am already paying a very high rent of 36k+5k maintenance plus 6kwater charges every quarter for tanker. There is no place for kids to play . No place or elderly to walk and even adult to spend time in society except home. Now owner has increased the rent by 30% aka 10k per month. So new rent will be 46k plus maintenance plus water tanker bill.please help me find a decent property with car parking. I am so tired of Bangalore rentals situation. Why the owner have become so greedy. Society has only 3 amenities- congested car parking , 1 swimming pool, and 1 functional gym with limited equipment.
The clause in the agreement matters. In a similar situation last year, the owner asked me to pay 25% extra rent or else vacate. In the agreement clause it was just 5%. I said the clause matters and told that I would continue until the agreement ends since almost 4 months were left for the agreement to end. He didn't agree and threatened me to vacate or pay 25% extra. I stopped paying the rent and continued to be in the apartment. Finally he was frustrated and agreed for same old rent until the end of the agreement. After that I vacated.
Also, I told that the clause matters and if he wasn't complying, I would go to court. That's when he finally agreed for the old rent.
