How much did your Degree cost and what was your first job salary?

Hi, One of my friends posted a job in our batch group but posted that 'this might be suitable for junior folks as salary is low'. Out of curiosity, I asked the salary in DM and the salary was more than what I was earning. So this puts me in a self degrading situation and hence I want to know the salary of fellow 2017 MBA grads. Please mention the college name if possible.
No hate but this is one of the worst things to do for one's mental peace, so many people will have FOMO because of this, including you.
I know people who stopped participating on Fishbowl because of this, with techies always asking about salaries, investments and what not.
If your salary is good enough for you, why worry about what others are earning, buddy.
I once heard a school senior speak on the topic "Why is his shirt whiter than mine?" for an extempore speech and I can't help but recall what they said - Be it anywhere, someone's shirt will always be whiter than yours. The question is, if your shirt is reasonably white and you and those close to you appreciate you while wearing it, does it matter what others are wearing?
Need more such content here. Nowadays grapevine is filled with tax and salary show off (not exactly show off but couldn’t find a better word) which is very confusing for people who are starting out or in serious dilemma of what they want to do, seeing one factor majorly in this diverse pool of users would somehow nudge the decision making in one direction only, create a bias.
We can work on a feature that shows you less of the salary content if you don’t want to.
Some people really dig the salary talk. I feel like the community is split on this.
What do you think @SpicyApple and @KrackJack
People who are getting paid a bucketload - ahead of the compensation curve. You may be happy now, but its a curse.
You won't get a choice of appropriate roles as your career progresses. You won't back down and accept a pay cut for a great role with a big runway.
Folks who are growing their compensation with the curve - your career is a set of multiple S shaped upswings. It's not linear, including for compensation. An optimal salary gets you to pick and choose the S curves that'll take you higher.
Most under-rated comment on this post. Struggling with this firsthand, and almost regret joining MBB because of this (apart from all the other reasons :P). In addition to limited choices due to comp, there's another issue with high comp - it always comes with higher work, higher hours (no free lunch), and hence you basically skip the entire "fun 20s" age as you were 5x more stressed and had 1/5x the free time vs. your peers at all times, on average.
Hey mate do you have any idea if Bain offers summer internships for undergrads? I'm from a tier 1.5 private college, hoping to get into MBB for the learning and network.
Salary comparison will make you nuts. That’s the worst thing to do, and might give you mental breakdown. I passed from one of top 15 Bschools in India. My last drawn salary was lower than 50LPA(Fixed). With ESOPs also I didn’t cross 1 Cr. Wherein some of my batchmates are making upwards of 2 Cr plus. But again, some batchmates are making lower than me.
For making money, you don’t need just salary but dedicatedly doing asset allocation and sound investments and controlling your outflow.
Also, you need to be at the right place at the right time to get good pay check.
Can you help me understand what sort of roles we could pursue to have a base 35 LPA early on the career(approx 3-4 years of experience)
IB and Management Consulting would be the roles which could help you with that base early in your career. Others would be shifting to Strategy roles at Startup after spending 2-3 years in Ivy League Management Consulting firms. All other functions and roles would have very less chances of offering you that base within the first 3-4 years after MBA.

Just wanted to check One of the friends of my girlfriend is doing MBA from MDI Gurgaon in HR. She recently got internship at GSK Bangalore. Do they really pay 1.2 lpm for MBA HR interns ? If so then what is the salary range ?
I have a general question around MBA salaries. I see many colleges boasting about their placements and salaries. The salaries are >30LPA for most tier1 colleges.
Are the figures quoted by B-Schools base salary or Total Compensation incl...
