Shoffr recently raised $1.5 Mn

Imagine how bad the current ride hailing experience have to be that Shoffr had to literally mention - "Our chauffeurs are friendly, don’t talk on the phone, and are incentivised on good behaviour"

Anyone in BLR who have used Shoffr? Apart from the old ways of taxi service (pre ola/Uber) era, what sets Shoffr apart?

Also how affordable is Shoffr?

What Shoffr currently runs is an airport pickup and drop service in BLR. Their entire fleet is BYD E6 electric SUVs / MUVs - large cars that can seat 4 very comfortably and also carry luggage for all of them.

These cars are expensive, are electric, and feel premium - it’s a 30L car vs a 7-8L swift dzire if we’re comparing with Ola/Uber. BluSmart in comparison runs Tata Tigor or MG ZS EV and they offer similar service to Shoffr but at a bigger scale.

Uber/Ola go/premier: 1000-1200 during quiet hours, 1600-2000 during peak - especially night time returns from airport on a weekend/holiday.
Uber XL: 2100 base, can go upto 2500.
BluSmart: Tigor EV - 1350. ZS EV - 1850.
Shoffr: 1450 flat. 100 more if you take the toll road.

Shoffr is a better ride any given day, some people just pay for it over an Uber Go. It becomes and even better proposition when you compare it like by like to Uber XL and BluSmart - it’s better on price AND on service / features etc.

There’s also a premium on things like peace of mind, driver behaviour consistency, reliability of service, punctuality etc. You’re at the mercy of the driver in Uber/Ola, to some extent it’s there in BluSmart but as they have grown it’s starting to taper off a little, and Shoffr gives the most consistently solid experience among all of them.

Sometime back I had read a post which detailed out how a lot of founders have started taking Bangalore as their base market and then assuming that is how the rest of India will also behave wrt their product. According to the founder's post they raised this majorly from their customers in Bangalore. Also, this airport ride thing is only and only a problem in Bangalore, imagine raising money for your product because an airport is far off from the city.
