Should I just focus in one field?

Just an hour ago I had a talk with someone I got to knew through my neighbour. He is a backend engineer by profession and experienced in the field. So I contacted him as I was looking for any job/internship and if he could refer me in any company through his networking. He asked what I was currently learning so I told him I am doing Full-Stack. I did 3 months internship in frontend and was going for backend so I could become a full-fledged developer. He told me not to do that instead pick either frontend or backend and go for it. He advised that big companies usually don't hire full-stack developers instead hire these roles separately so I should just focus on the domain I am good at.

My placements are very close and I am learning as much as I can full-time so what should I do? I am already anxious whether I will get placed or not due to current market situation and advice like this makes me doubt whether I am going correctly or just wasting my time and efforts.

So; can anyone tell me what should I do? Should I do full-stack or go with either frontend or backend?

The advice u got is absolutely correct. If you are focusing on big companies they mostly hire either backend or front-end developers. However most of the start up and mid size company hire for full stack developer. Anyways exceptions can always be there. My suggestion would be to become master of one rather than jack of all trade!!

But saying that have a basic understanding of backend will help you to understand end to end flow!!
