I have 76% and 81% in my 10th and 12th will this score impact my dream of getting into top B-schools?
Need you people guidance I am currently preparing for my GMAT your response would really be appreciated.
Hi Good People of Grapevine , I recently gave GMAT and got a score of 770, PFB other details
10th-72% 12th-60% Grad-BBA(71%)
Work ex- 7+ years
Please suggest what are chances to get in Top colleges such as Harvard, Stanford etc what are my other options?
Nice score. But B Schools optimise for diversity as they want to build the best possible class experience. Indian Males in It/Tech companies are over representated, so average GMAT scores of top B Schools are not what you’re up against.
You’re up against Indian Males in IT/Tech companies which skews a little higher. Although, according to me 770 beats that healthily.
You should try for INSEAD/LSE/LBS as well. Apply to T15 as well. You haven’t mentioned a lot about your WorkEx but if you’ve shown that you have grown in one organisation with multiple promotions then it looks very favourable over switching jobs.
I’m going to be honest. Your GMAT is good but your Acads and work ex look weak. You’re likely to be rejected by HBS, Stanford, Kellog etc.
The truth is you don’t need a perfect score to get into a top B School. You need a compelling story. The AdCom needs to feel that you are on track to change the world and are a high potential individual.
Your profile doesn’t scream any of that.
Adding context to my work ex, I have worked for 7+ year in Business( Growth and expansion) Played pivotal role in expanding Zomato from 15 city to 500 in online ordering. Similar sort of roles at Unacademy and FK too.
Interesting. In light of this new information, you should expect reasonably admits from T15. Best of Luck. 💪🏻
I interviewed at HBS with a similar background and a similar score.
I feel like age is going to be the biggest barrier to successful admission. You simply aren’t suited for the mid-career $150K that your classmates would happily accept.
HBS cares a lot about proving ROI, so your future career has to make sense to them. If I were you, I’d position my story around wanting to come back to India. Easier sell.
I am 27 currently, I am getting say in ballpark of 150K USD considering PPP. My intent is to go to top school and be around best brains of the world for a year or so, hence the wait of not going for admission in last 2022. (covid shutdown risk)
Would want to startup, have couple of ideas that i want to build, get closure to source build a strong team and getting close to capital. That’s the plan( I know some might argue that this can be done from india as well) but i want to have better chances
For your title, this reason doesn't seem like a gadheda's idea.
The good news is you have a stellar GMAT the bad thing GMAT dosen’t work like CAT. If you screw essays, interviews, etc. you might be out.
If you have no money constraints try to get into M7, if yes go aggressive with 5-15 US programs but with scholarships - otherwise the cost of the course will be 2 Cr+, and if you don’t get H1B then you are screwed for 2-3 years till you pay debt.
Try for INSEAD, LSE, HSE etc. in 1 Y courses
In India also you can try
