Flew my usual UK801 yesterday, while landing is when I realised it'll be my last Vistara :(
Tomorrow, Vistara officially merges into Air India, and it's a little nostalgic. I still remember my first flight with them, DEL to BOM, back in June 2015. I was 18, heading to Mumbai for college counseling, with Appa by my side. Vistara was the new airline back then, with this fresh vibe and that signature purple branding that felt a bit magical, like it was just for us. Flying economy, nervous about what lay ahead, I had no idea this airline would stick around through so many chapters of my life.
Fast forward to now, and life’s changed in ways I never could’ve guessed back on that first flight. From being a student excited (and honestly, a bit scared) about college, to now flying business class 6 times every month for work, Vistara has been this quiet, steady companion. Those flights became a part of my routine - sometimes prepping for meetings, other times just staring out of the window into the void at 30,000 feet, or sometimes (ok, a fair bit of times) just having a nervous breakdown high up there. The familiar purple in the sky always felt like a little bubble of calm, a sense of home before everything picked up again on the ground.
Metaphorically, Vistara wasn’t just an airline - it was there, in the background, through all the changes. Through nervous beginnings, big milestones, and the grind of work trips. And now that it’s merging into AI, there’s this bittersweet feeling. I’m thankful for every single takeoff and landing, for the little moments, for the journeys it carried me through.
Just grateful and nothing else 🙏🏼
