The attitude among Indian tech employees

I have worked in 2 Indian-born startups, one of which has its branch in US and Europe. Almost everyday I have to reach out to folks both in India and in US to ask questions and get details regarding technical features.

Now, whenever I reach out to people in India, they all have this rude attitude while replying back. For example: if I ask a very detailed question they often don't respond back. Sometimes it takes 2 days, 2 followups to respond.

Example: As a new joiner I asked a dev "is there is any docs regarding certain product feature. If not could you point me to the PM or EM who worked on it?" He took 2 days to respond and his response was "NO". Just No. He didn't even read the full text. 🤷🏻 In my 10 year experience, almost 5 in 10 indian employees behave this way.

Whenever I reach out to US folks, ofcourse they take time to respond but when they do they provide most of the info on slack; whom to reach, how to get access. They seem to have the courtesy to actually help.

I get it, we all are busy with stuff. But shouldn't we have a basic courtesy to atleast respond respectfully? Why is this need to act superior to others?

Your experience is unfortunate, but not surprising. Indian tech employees, like you've described, often lack basic courtesy. "Kaam chalao" attitude, I say. Why can't we be more professional? Who taught you manners?

Its the typical jugaad mindset. Till its going good who cares about documentation and procedures. Sab changa!
