Thinking of moving away from product design and starting with web development
I never thought i would write this, starting a few years back i thought i found design is a good career option to get me flow through. After so many years I stuck on a job, i stuck on life, i stuck on everything meanwhile my developer friends who started the same year as me now moving places, travel, placed in FAANG.
Design has no scope for higher packages, stable life, big creators in design just selling you a dream with the 1 lakh design cohort. Where companies hire 100 developers they are going to hire only 20 designers or even less and salary comparison is also worse.
With a developer 3+ experience from tier 3 can get around 20 lakh. Meanwhile design has no thing you can earn 10+ experience but can stuck in 7 lakh.
Design is subjective too, so most companies may be not preferred to hire designers they just outsourced to different design companies.
Even if you are hired by a company, if there is no good design senior to mentor you will regret, meanwhile compared to development you have a whole next level community to Help you even your co-founder help you, thinking development is hard takes time and from my previous organisation I left the company as their first designer now the company completely removed their designer , 5-6 are roaming on the street looking for jobs.
I don't mean to hurt you, even if you choose this path maybe you will end up a good designer, but chances are very thin lets say 1 out of 20
My point is if you are looking for quick bucks, have a crazy designer life, money on the table that is not gonna happen.
Choosing a design is easy staying in the field and continuous learning is hard. Meanwhile in development, starting coding is hard, after a certain time you will become pro, but in design you can never be called pro you have always have some doubt in yourself in every project.
You can reach out to me though, i am feeling very 😞
Thr worst thing is people who have desig degree get all the hr calls and these same morons come and brag that u don't need a degree.Indian deisgners are one of the most scammers and people with no integrity , literally trying to milk money from people who want to get in hiding their privilege of 30 lac degree which actually got them calls rather than their skills.
Tension ni leni bacha. 😘 @Warcraft
Okay here is a piece of advice for you on a serious note :
If you are a guy :
Buddy life is always unexpected, and it's great you have found it now - you know the truth about the field you have chosen. Now you need to take ACTION TO MAKE THINGS CORRECT. if at any point you think of moving to data analytics feel free to ping for help. And buddy this is harsh reality, you will have to crave to yourself multiple times to get the "right field" for you.
If you are a girl : Please have an open mind and listen to me. Why do we have a career? We have so that it can make us feel sufficient, happy and gives us money to enjoy life. Right?? A man earns for his family so that he gets all the love and peace. A traditional man is very happy to run his family financially, just in return of respect, love (emotional + physical), care.
So, I think you can utilize this skill to plan surprises for him, design gifts etc. A married man would really like this.
