TikTok buys 75% stake in Tokopedia

Chinese companies / apps have not been allowed to operate in India, now with TikTok buying 75% in Tokopedia (not 75% of gojek), what do you think will be fate on Tokopedia's India offices? Would Tiktok keep Tokopedia's India office keep it untouched Or Expand Tokopedia's India office and get some of atiktok work also her Or Over medium term close India office as Indian government doesn't likes Chinese apps / companies.

This is masterful from TikTok. Indonesian government had earlier affected their plans of starting eComm/Live Comm on their own earlier, if I remember correctly.

How the GoTo stock has been doing since it IPO'd, I imagine they got a pretty good value deal

I am genuinely interested in who is running this account. Shashank? Parveen? I see your comments everywhere

The Toko merger probably never led to enough synergies that made the business that much better.
Unfortunately this has already affected colleagues... ๐Ÿ˜•

What do you mean that it has already affected colleagues? Is there any layoffs or something?

I think they should keep the india offices, since itโ€™s mainly tech teamsโ€ฆ?
Indonesia would have limited depth tech talent wise But they could also obviously do all of it between China - India. Hmm. Tricky.

I imagine Modiji will be happy to take Chinese money but not have them make money in India.

Make in India, for rest of the world.

It's not about Modiji liking Toko's backend office or not. Will Tiktok like to have India office or not?

Interesting stuff for us but scary for employees. They would be unsure of their future now
