What is the most important advice needed to survive in Big 4s?

Early in my career during my internship, I was in the elevator with a middle aged man with silver hair. He introduced himself and then started asking me about my experience here and my background. I duly responded to him. He gave me a very simple advice,

"There will be a lot of people seeking your help here. Do help them but always ensure you get credit. What is not seen is forgotten and did not happen."

I came to know that he was an extremely senior partner later during the day when I asked someone about him. This advice stuck with me throughout my career.

Agree. But trust me such ppl who always hog for credit or limelight are the ones who make a team toxic. I do understand that his statement was more in terms of helping others but ensuring credit due is given.

Don’t over do it. Draw a line. The more you give, the more they are willing and happy to take.
Always try and keep your personal life and health first, otherwise years will go by infront of you screens.
Made the mistake of saying yes to everyone in the beginning, just so people will know me and appreciate my work. But it has costed me my peace and health.
If you’re good, they’ll know.

On the topic of helping people, can you help me get a referral for PWC? And how can I credit you for the same?
