
What is wrong with people who pitch AI startups but they are really AI wrappers?
Because every Santa-Banta startup has started to pitch AI wrappers to me over the last so many month.


If it ends up getting paid customers and solving a problem in a niche, one can always move to their own hosted llms in future, genuine question - what is the issue in that?
Api call to gpt3 might be the mvp version of a truly ai company, isnt it?

Not really. AI wrappers are crap. The only way they can make money is to create a dependency on one client and sell it to them.

AI wrapper is a poor term. It's like saying every app is a Ui layer on SQL tables.

Because when someone pitches you actual AI algorithms, you make fun of them for being too out of touch, or underdressed, or compare them to a random AI wrapper startup.
Indian VCs are getting what they deserve. Drive out all the actual technical talent to America in their love of charlatans (being charlatans themselves).
Most good AI talent I knew lived in Hyderabad and Bangalore is now working for one of the US companies while Indians are funding and hiring posers.

GPT is good at mimicking human answers. Like a chatbot. But you need reliable information. For example, I’m working on an AI finance app. We are working to stabilise consistency of data which is a very difficult problem. But we don’t expect our AI to behave like a chatgpt. So a collaboration between two optimised AI is the path forward. But honestly, it’s too early to see the winners and losers of the AI race!

You must be an VC Analyst probably - no technology context, no business context , no market understanding. The wrappers today can anytime move to a OSS foundational models. If according to you AI is just creating foundational models, you have no clue as to how the industry would progress

I don’t think there is any sustainable advantage left in AI apart from GTM/Distribution.
Either you can innovate on a new data source or acquire users faster than your competitions.
Form factor improvements are hard to come by.

So what? They are using AI and solving a specific problem to cater targeted customers.
