What was your dream role until reality turned it into shit?
My dream was to work at early stage startup as a Software Engineer bcoz startups were cool. But the toxic environment and lack of organisations made it a nightmare to work at.
Then I became a PM at a startup after getting hyped about Product Management. And then I realised no matter what you do, the CEO does whatever he feels like. And months later the project is scraped. And I learn only the things a PM should not do.
So what's the role that you got excited about that turned to shit?
I joined the non-tech of a really fancy fintech startup, amongst the best in its niche only to be let down by its toxic culture and extreme level of micro-management.
And in order to get a job with them, I even let go of opportunities from others whose culture was well-rated on Ambitionbox and Glassdoor.
I wanted to work in the automotive industry. Joined a big listed OEM in their supply chain team after college. It was so boring. It was basically clerical work. Not to mention 6 days working. Sat was supposed to be half a day that ended at 5.30pm.
Take a day off on sat and Monday, Sunday was counted as leave. The food in the canteen was pathetic. I stayed there for 5 years as I could not change sector.
