What will happen to BYJUs/Sharechat type companies?
Will these cash burning companies just continue raising money and biding time or will they implode soon? Not well informed on this, genuinely want to know how this works And what happens to their 1000s of employees
BYJUs is much better placed than lots of start ups
- growing in US, Europe and LATM via OSMO & Tinker
- strong business in Aakash, Grade Up and great learning (will be cashflow positive in next 2-3 months)
- core business is not cash flow positive but will be EBIT positive by next quarter
- investor see edtech as an industry that will stay and BYJUs as a strong player in it. Hence are in talks for a 500 M round that will be big in this time
OSMO and Tinker are both not growing and the US Engineering Team has been fired and they have moved everything to India .
Gradeup is not growing as far as I know and founders have been fired .
Really bad situation at Byjus and people don't even know whether they will get next month's salary
Smart employees can figure out the start of the endgame and jump ships early. Some unlucky folks stay back thinking good times will return but they never do. Similar story at Housing, old Snapdeal when it used to be big, Foodpanda, Bounce, etc
They’re both in danger Sharechat might be because of burn and inability to monetize as rapidly
Its Byjus thats the real concerns. Lack of PMF and super strange capital raising tactics at horrendous valuations
Lets see which one we hear of first
Hearing really bad news from BYJUs, firm has silently laid off upto 15-20 K people in months
People in the firm what is happening? Is this the end of edtech and BYJUs? What went wrong?
