What's a stupid career move that you still regret to this day?
My story: I quit my stable good job with just one offer in hand back in December 2019, I wanted to enjoy the long December break before taking up the new role in January..
Then the pandemic hit and the company I was about to join became flaky. I got no reply for 3-4 months from the recruiter at the other end.
Finally the job market came back by June and I got a remote role. Those 4 months I believe I was borderline upset all the time and thinking I will never ever find a job again. In hindsight I was stupid on many levels. And now I kinda laugh about it

Out of 100 companies came for campus placement, I still joined TCS.

There are losers and then there is this guy

I disagree. I don't think it is that bad choice. Unless you become comfortable at tcs

Joined a web3 company briefly,
everyone is so delusional

Yes. Most of these companies work on something that is not sustainable and not tangible

Lol

Left autodesk and joined a unicorn
Fml,best wlb and remote work at autodesk
Realised, being 24y/o i don't need money more that 30lpa which I was making at autodesk, above that it's just money that I might not even need for the rest of my life and will be passed onto my next gen

I agree. Joining Autodesk was a good decision for me. Initially was slightly skeptical but I knew people there are sooo much into innovation and it's just too good. WLB is fine but yeah, people are really talented

What was your yoe at auto desk and role??

Joined concentrix as my first job as a customer service rep. Still in 3rd year and wanted to see what corporate feels like, and the chicks.
Chicks? 🤣

The chicks part is real

Left PhonePe a stable company to join slice which was shit after RBI CC guidelines. Got laid off soon after.

phonepe >> slice >> razorpay?

Is razorpay good?

My biggest career mistake was quitting jobs without having another offer. I stayed jobless for months, even years. At 26, I spent two years on a course instead of focusing on my career. A friend who convinced me to join got a job through contacts, but I didn’t. Later, I learned front-end coding and landed a Web/UI Designer role, but the company went bankrupt. Instead of leaving, I stayed without pay for months. After another long jobless period, I took graphic design jobs to survive.
I’ve learned the hard way: never quit without a safety net. Bollywood’s coming-of-age movies romanticize passion at any cost, but for the lower and middle class, securing a job first is crucial.

I am planning on resigning without any offers. I have saved around 6-7 months of expenses.

Opted Chemical Engineer, even while I was getting CSE.
Joined the core ,moved up the ladder ,turned Assistant Manager and then opted for Career Switch as Analyst.
Trusted Edtech companies on placement assurance left the job, was jobless for a good 9 months and worked on my skills.
Cracked two offers as Associate Analyst in two Product based companies, preferred the remote work option, grabbed all the opportunities and got promoted to Business Analyst in 6 months.
Wrong Steps? Many, Regret my decision? Sometimes, Happy? Yes
