It would have been cool if it was watching food getting prepared in VR where if you order from a fancy place you can watch a pre-recorded version with the chef doing some fancy slicing and dicing for entertainment.
But no watch your sandwich in AR while you sit hungry.

As a PM, yeah this feature makes sense.
If there's a mouthwatering picture of a food item, then I am compelled to order that item more.
Same logic with AR. Having a 3D view of a food item gives a realistic view of actual food and portion size.
Also, a lot of features are MVP tests. Might work, might not. That's how we scale what's working and take lessons from what didn't.
