I did think dating is a scam on some level but this case does reveals bad actors on female side as well. Pretty sure it happens outside India as well and tbh, such case might be less highlighted than a case with male as the bad actor.

Totally agree with @BiryaniEnthu, kon h ye log, kaha se aate hai, first date me 25k - 40k But I read the pub owners sometime threaten before the victim could leave. Still we need a poll for this, GV pe koi spend krne ka sochega kya to your first date??
