What type of corporate villains have you encountered with in your company? Comment your story.

There is one guy on my team who handles feedback so poorly that they engage in narcissistic tendencies. I've seen them bootlick the right people due to their closer proximity and utilize crony wordplay to show that they are harmless. When in fact they try to advance their own agenda to further their own gain. Every company on their resume is a checklist and the megalomania in them is palpable. Unfortunately most people on the team are too naive and won't realize it until it's too late. Which means by the time he is done using everyone else, he will bounce and do it at their next company while completely f'ing over their current coworkers. Anyone had a similar experience?

I want to know how many of you viners gets exceeds expectations ratings in their company. What different you guys do to get it. I always gets meets. No matter how much I do great and extra work.

You know those type of people? The ones who believe they know everything, everyone else is beneath them, but in reality are extremely stupid? The ones who will never admit they are wrong even if you show them why? The ones who will try to demean you at every step of the way cause it gives them pleasure? The ones who you just want to punch as soon as you see them in office? Yeah, I know you’re thinking about atleast one person while reading this. My question is what has your strategy been in dealing with these people? So far in my journey, I haven’t faced any sadistic manager, so that has been great, but the people, my god, some of the tech guys in my teams have been absolutely the most frustrating human beings I’ve encountered. Ofcourse the first thing to do is to take a step back and reevaluate whether if it is you who has been the actual asshole all along, but after that, if you are still convinced that the other person is nothing but the living embodiment of satan, how do you guys go about dealing with them?

I'll be joining Navi next month as a fresher. Just heard about the layoffs. How should I proceed in this startup. Should I start preparing for new opportunities or wait almost a year ( if they don't layoffs) for future opportunities? Company is doing good at financial terms I guess. Confused kindly suggest all opinions are appreciated?

I read the glassdoor reviews and it says a bootlicking, inexperienced management and very bad work life balance. It also says good growth and good pay. I try to stay optimistic and ask folks at Navi as to what is the ground reality. Can you share instances of what is the work culture or just give your reviews?

I will go first - I quit my last organisation (a famous UPI company) in 2020 because, they still are in old technology. No cloud computing, no kubernates, no terraform. Their entire baremetal infra are in 2 DCs (Mumbai and Bangalore). Leadership ideas are outdated. I was very much bored and looking for a change.

I know sometimes we refrain from saying too much about our company. But exes can usually be talked about, since there's not much holding back. Maybe it helps someone else avoid a mistake you did, or gain a new learning :p Shoot.

I am a 2022 grad and 1yr into my corporate life and I have stopped liking software engineering. I took software engineering as a career because for the love of it but after experiencing the office politics and constant mundane work I have lost my zeal. We are always caught between the CTO and the Manager not being on the same page and redoing a lot of our work. For the past 1yr we have been migrating the same stuff to different platforms. No innovative work, no recognition for good work. Is this normal in the corporate world? Also I am thinking of taking a break as I want to focus on my health. Is it a good idea to take a break now for 3-5 months and then get back to working again?

I worked in an Indian startup closely with CXO for last few years. They are pathetic in any way possible. Tech is limited to crud, that too doesn't work. The pay amongst their inner circle is in no way justifiable. For reference, I know people getting US pay remotely and that too doesn't come close to some of them. They hired a guy from a service based company with completely different tech stack and no product experience for 60lpa+ (I know this number because he drunk boasted about this once) as VP just because he was acquaintance. Now, this guy lacked basic human decency and tech skills. He didn't know things as basic as how to use git cli or how to talk to people. Every non-tech person that ever had to work with him called it quit. Even 4-5 year old employees (juniors being exploited mostly) that were there from inspection. He would ruthlessly "harass" them for his own shortcomings. The head of sales gets paid more than what their profit after margin is. They just keep on raising based on their IIT/IIM creds and connections and there's no business or problem that they are solving. Even the contracts they seem to winning is rather by pulling the strings, because the product or tech doesn't solve or do anything. Yet they're able to raise more again and again. It kinda kills me and fills me with so much rage that there are so many of them similar ones out there. I could go on and on about all the things that I had to see working here for years.
