Crypto was promised to be the bane of fiat currency, evil central banks and centralised control over financial transactions. The more I understand it, the more it seems technically feasible and very much possible but practically difficult due to opposing forces.

The globally coordinated push for CBDCs (central banking digital currency) by central banks, government regulations on decentralised currencies as well as the loss of trust of investors and public in crypto seems to have put power right back into the hands of the already too powerful.

Will we ever see a world where currency isn't controlled by the powerful central banks and governments? Is it possible for decentralised currency to make a comeback at all?

We'll probably get to the #3 spot if things go well. But it seems impossible that we'll ever go beyond that.

Internal reasons that are very hard to fix:-

(1) Our population TFR fell below standard replacement rate in 2023. This means we will not be able to follow the same economic growth trajectory required to reach developed status before population stagnation or declination. This is not a death knell but definitely very VERY bad news.

(2) Our blue-collar workforce skill levels are not only subpar but are slowly falling behind the world standards every year. Much of our youth aim to join government orgs like the Army or the Railways which train for the job later, not before. Despite a national shortage of skilled plumbers, electricians etc, our vocational training orgs have been unsuccessful in attracting people towards these careers as well as churning out skilled workers.

(3) Our bureaucratic environment is extremely slow with pathetic turnaround times on initiatives. This is not government specific and has always been the case so it seems like this will always be. This is not even a problem unique to India as many other countries have been facing this too but it is still a factor that negatively impacts our growth massively.

I wish it was just internal reasons but a large part of it also comes down to both China and US being aggressively great at ensuring their successes:-

(1) Chinese manufacturing seems nearly impossible to overcome - not just for India but also for the US. Yes, we might win over some industries and companies like the US, Vietnam, Thailand etc. have been doing but the amount of autocratic control in China allows them to crush competition easily. Case in point - the recent tussle between India and China on solar manufacturing which China won by autocratically lowering their prices.

(2) If de-dollarisation succeeds, it will benefit China the most because (contd. in comments)

Let's do our part, instead FOMO, have an abundance mindset,keep building and shipping.

2001 was a Dot Com collapse.
2008 was a banking collapse that hit IT too.
This year first it was the Tech companies and now its the Banking, Financial Sector that is getting hit, making it the worst of all recessions.
And its expected to get worse with Fed likely to hike up interest rates.

Its like this year we are having the worst of both 2001 and 2008.

Both indexes began diverging sometime close to when Fed started to aggressively hike rates. It appears that the post-COVID rally was more favourable to the S&P but NIFTY is currently outperforming on absolute returns.

My idea is fundamentally simple. Financial prudence during the raging recovery paid off for us, the economy appears resilient and poised to do well in the near to mid-term. It also reflects that markets are pricing recessionary risk very differently to both markets.

It's true, yet it's surprising that more people aren't discussing these global issues:

- China is dumping US Treasury bonds at a record scale.

- JPY is worst-performing currency among G10. 
Japan, one of the largest holders of US Treasuries, could stabilize its currency by selling bonds in the open market.

- The primary reason for the USD's demand, the Petro-Dollar agreement, whichrecently expired after 50 years.

- Major oil-producing countries, aside from Saudi Arabia, are showing interest in joining BRICS. Saudi Arabia is considering the both options.

- Central banks across the globe are increasingly accumulating precious metals(Gold & Silver)

- There is a rise in bilateral agreements between countries, focusing on trading with their own currencies.

- BRICS might launch their commodity based currency in upcoming BRICS summit in Oct 2024 at Russia.

- If Saudi Arabia joins BRICS, the alliance will control 42% of the global oil and gas sector. 

This isn’t the first time the world has tried to move away from the USD. In the past, Africa and Europe attempted to dedollarize with their own currencies but ended up falling into the same trap.

Once BoJ starts dumping their T$, US is going to be in deep trouble. Things might change post US Presidential elections…!!!

2022 has been the year of ESOP value destruction. Lets collect some real instances here. This silent but deadly phenomenon is hardly reported in mainstream media.

I am in shock that the Canadian PM, in the Canadian Parliament no less has alleged that India has eliminated a khalistani on Canadian soil. 
I still remember the days, when the single greatest attack on the soul of the country took place in Mumbai on 26/11, all we could do was establish backchannel diplomacy with the likes of the US to get Pakistan to 'calm down'. Not a single bullet was fired in return in a nation that perceived our weak national security as par for the course, getting the Congress led UPA that presided over this moment of unparalleled humiliation, a thumping verdict in 2009. That was an India where we would lament the lack of credible retaliation options including Covert Ops. It was often stated that IK Gujral rolled back R&AW operations outside the country as an excuse for our lack. Although, no action was taken to initiate the operations again. NONE. But excuses were ready should failures occur again.

That India of my childhood, seems like a distant past. When URI and Balakot happened, we crossed the LoC and launched Spl Ops to impose rising costs upon Pakistani aggression. Khalistani or old thoroughbred battle hardened Islamic Jihad commanders in Pakistan or PoK are being neutralized, further raising costs to threatening Indian interests. 

This is not the India I grew up in. 2004-14, when we ought to have taken off, came a pauper after the initial global liquidity fuelled growth from 04-07. Congress went on a far left loony socialistic binge, with massive amounts of debt given to Crony Industrialist friends leading to an NPA crisis which led to Private investment paralysis, plummeting growth further, and inflation hitting the skies. 

But now, we are poised for a decade or two of rapid, high quality, solid economic growth. All of these factors combine to bolster our Gross National Power like never before. 

We were supposed to be poor, timid and helpless. We pursued sympathy over strength. But I guess, this is no longer the India we knew of.

This is NOT the India I grew up in

This is not the India I grew up, where there was some trust left between religious communities and people were mostly tolerant of each other. Indian cricket team had a Muslim captain, and now an Indian Muslim fastbowler is facing Internet trolls.  
  
 This is not the India I grew up in where hate mongering was not mainstream and was frowned upon.  
  
  
 This is not the India I grew up in. Democratic institutions were fairly independent and there was no Supreme leader worship among the masses.
