what does product manager exactly do ?

Hey folks, I'm wondering what kinda role I should pursue next after product management. I'm done with this role, works vary from company to company and team to team. It's tough to make people understand the difference between pre-PMF products & mature products, and how the metrics impact vary across the spectrum. And this completely changes the equation of your appraisal or your promotion as well. I don't see myself working in the same kind of role after 5 years. So I'm wondering what kinda role I should look out for? My general interests are more analytics & strategy centric. What do you guys think??

I want to become a Product Manager. Can someone suggest me how I can work towards becoming one? My background is as follows- I am a final year student of a dual degree program in Computer Engineering and Finance from NMIMS Mumbai. My previous internship was a client facing one majorly focusing on client interactions and problem solving for Clients in taxation. Other than that, I have experience working in college committees and pretty good hold on finance.

What exactly is this. Every pm role I see seems more like a success role to me (in the b2b industry) for non tech early careers. No actual identification of opportunities to build. Ppl in this field do help me out!
