Career shift

I have 8+ years of experience in IT in multiple technologies, now I want to shift to AI & ML domai as a data scientist or ML engineering. I am technically sound in these AI and ML concepts i was wondering what would be challenges and to what extent are recruiters accepting my profile considering my 1 years of experience in this domain.
