Confused on what to do next
Need some guidance. I am currently working in a product based MNC with a decent salary for 8 months. I am having 3 years of work experience. Recently I got an interview opportunity from a US based startup company for a SDE 2 remote role with 50% hike. What shall I do? Should I be continue working in the reputed MNC or try to switch to a startup with 50% hike and complete remote opportunity? Any help and guidance is much appreciated 🙂
1 month. But I really like the current work culture but I work as an external employee, so I am not a direct employee.
My suggestion: good company and the work culture is very hard to find so stay. Little money won't help you and start-ups have unrealistic expectations and fucked wlb.

I joined such a company last year, with 200% hike around 35 LPA fixed at 1.8 YOE. Obviously it was too tempting. Sadly there’s a good chance things won’t go well. The culture can become toxic pretty quickly, specifically if it’s a startup. And your chances of career growth in this remote setting is very less. They are hiring you because you’re a cheaper option. Your growth does not benefit them and it will not be their priority. I bet they won’t even give you a hike. If they need a more senior dev they will probably just hire someone which will cost them less than promoting you. I had good offers from from a few companies with very good pay, I regret not taking them on. Your work hours will be probably at night and slowly but surely it will affect your life in one way or another. Moreover, showcasing your work will be of utmost importance because it will be a remote setting. DM me for details ig.

Wow sir, you really cracked a deal. I would like to know your approach and things you practiced for that role.
I read your opinion. I agree that it can turn out to be a toxic environment and I can get too much work and it will definitely affect my wlb. I believe it is the case in most of the companies where individuals’ growth is skipped and they only align you with the organisation growth.
Initially I got tempted but with time I realised that tempting is not helping.

Since its a US based startup company, is there a possibility or a reason enough to push yourself to work in two time zones and keep the remote job too if your regular work load at company isn’t much. Not underplaying the fact that it will definitely screw up your work life balance. Again, it depends how badly this second job is required. And if you are only looking to keep one then I’d say you can take some chances early on in your career so if you have a fall back system in place. You can weigh in your pros and cons and try.
First tell your current company.
It depends on your current org to know more about.
Secondly, its an early stage of your career, you can take a chance and got for a big bet.
I am currently working as an Backend developer in Mercedes Benz research and development. But I am not a full time employee there, working as an external employee.
