Higher education options after 2-3 yrs work-ex as Software Engineer

Any suggestions on what kind of degrees are rewarding after 2-3 years of work-ex as a software developer? I'm inclined to transition to product management roles. It seems that for MiM/MaM 0-2 yrs are ideal, for MBA >4 yrs.

Why are there not enough folks having entrepreneurial aspirations?

I am addressing folks who have progressed in their careers enough to earn at least 30 LPA. If you are earning this much in India, you are already in the creamy layer of lifestyle. You can afford a decent house, a decent car and probably save up some assets for children's education (A lot of people bring up the expensive school fees). If you get a salary hike from 30LPA to 40LPA, there is a high chance that your lifestyle will not change that much. Your savings will go up, but still it will take years to retire early in either case. It's quite apparent that if you want to improve your lifestyle at this stage (highest-end middle class), you will require an income source capable of providing leverage and exponential growth. Barring a few folks I know, everyone else is busy grinding leetcode, mugging up system design for their next job switch or even worse, kissing ass for the next promotion. Why don't enough people start learning about business on the side and slowly start investing their free time in learning everything they can about it ? I am sure it will be a much better time investment if you play your cards correctly for a long enough time (I am pretty sure this is still a quicker path to riches as compared to 30 years of SIP investments). Note: I completely understand that many people have monthly payment obligations like EMIs. And that's why my question is about 'aspirations'. I am not asking 'Why are people not leaving their jobs to pursue entrepreneurship?'. I am rather asking 'Why are people not even thinking about anything else apart from the next (disappointing) hike?'

Longevity of a product career

Sharing some reflections on this: 1. Product is not a function with a large hierarchy / multiple levels in the ladder. Managerial responsibility comes in very late in the product career and the spans are typically small (relative to other functions like engineering, sales, operations). This also means a steeper funnel to the top and only a handful VP Product roles in the industry. 2. Product is centered around technology and digital consumer trends, both of which are fast changing. This requires constant unlearning and relearning. But more critically, this also means that previous knowledge/experience hits a plateau on marginal value beyond a basic threshold (where you have developed some essential product semse and skills). 3. Product managers are also much higher-paid vs other functional peers, at comparable years of experience. This means that a PM gets to a very high salary (say, 1+ crore) by the age of 40 (15-20y into their career). Tech functions in non-tech companies (like FMCG, banking) cannot offer that kind of pay, meaning salary growth beyond a point is limited to tech-first companies / limiting addressable market for lateral moves. All of these considererd, how should PMs think about the longevity of their careers? Unlike traditional roles, this does not seem like a "retire at 60" job. What would be the realistic age one should plan for, at which career growth and salary growth will stagnate? What are ways in which a 80%ile PM can extend their career (eg: also taking up engineering management or P&L responsibility or growth function etc., to increase scope)? PS: this post is not for the top 5-10% PMs. They will always find roles at VP level etc, this is for the 50-90%ile bucket of PM talent.
