Update on DMs, Search and Feed

Hey Folks, Happy Friday! We wanted to share what we've been up to, so you know what to expect from the app in the next 1-2 months. 1. Bugs: We are hard at work trying to solve all the bugs that have slowly crept into Grapevine 😶 2. DMs: A polite way for users to take a few conversations deeper, and share referrals/resumes if they want to. A key worry for us would be to not make this spammy (like a few users pointed out on a recent post), while still staying helpful. 3. Experience: A smoother, more fluid app experience coming soon 4. Moderation: As posts and comments on Grapevine increase in number - there's also a small 0.1% of users that sometimes post abusive/offensive content. We're taking these issues more seriously. We read every 'report' that you share with us and take action appropriately 5. Grapevine on Web (I swear the first build is super exciting - I'm typing this post out on an early version of Grapevine Web 😉). This should allow people to browse Grapevine while in a boring meeting 😂 6. Salaries: We're building something exciting for better salary information 💰 7. Verification: You may have seen some users on Grapevine are now verified with a blue check. Currently only launched for employees of 3 companies, we'll launch this soon for more companies. This is how we'll raise the bar on trust within Grapevine. And no, we never plan to charge for blue ticks like some other platforms. Hi Grapeviners Over the last month or so we announced two massive products that are as big as Grapevine itself: 

1. Private Company groups with verification 2. Salaries on Grapevine Thousands of you have since adopted these products, but most importantly, you gave us great feedback and we are working on making these more helpful Here’s what you can expect from Grapevine in the next few weeks: 1. Direct Messaging on Grapevine (yes yes, I know at this point everyone seems to be giving up on this xD) 2. V2 Update to Salaries - making it more useful with more data points 3. Launching verification and company private groups for 100 companies (we will keep doing this where we have enough people) 4. A better feed: We are hoping to show you less of posts you’ve already seen (A common complain with Grapevine) 5. A new approach to communities on Grapevine 6. A feature buff to Polls - making them even more insights rich 7. Better Link type posts - currently links on Grapevine are broken 8. Grapes V2: People will get grapes for creating ‘Chatty posts’ and ‘Deep Polls’ over and above the current definition of Grapes that is just focused on the number of likes you get 9. An Official Grapevine mixer (details soon!) As always, your feedback and spreading the good word about Grapevine is always appreciated

Hey Folks, A few updates to Grapevine, so please do update your app from play/app store :) 1. A new slightly redesigned feed. We’ve adjusted font-weights and spacing to make things easier on your eyes. More refinements coming soon 2. Post and Comment Insights: You now get insights on posts and comments where you receive more than 7 likes. This will be a feature which all writers on the app will def appreciate :) 3. A better feed: We are constantly making adjustments to give you a better feed. Efforts such as ‘trending posts for you’ and the upcoming ‘posts you may like’ are efforts in this direction. This is something we want to get better at 4. Results on Polls: You can now see poll results even before you answer them! We can finally lose the popcorn option. Long time pending, I know… 5. Update on Private Feeds: We now have around 2500 verified users using their company’s private feed. IMO this is one of the deepest and most useful products within Grapevine. Or so I hear :) We will launch 25 more companies where we have ‘critical mass’ over the coming 4 weeks! Upcoming - we are very close to: 1. The rollout of DMs on Grapevine (after maybe 1000 users here scolded at us for not making it lol) 2. Rollout of the exciting new Salary Product (middle tab) 3. Grapes 2.0: Updating the Grapes formula to reflect your contribution to the community even more accurately Your patience and feedback is a privilege we do not take lightly! Hey folks, we’ve made tonnes of new changes to Grapevine: 1. A new look for Grapevine 2. A refreshed app logo 3. Link-type posts now look better 4. Image type posts now look smaller and cleaner 5. Lots of new algorithm changes that hopefully send ‘better’ posts to you 6. Lots of new Private Company Communities (more on this soon) 7. Hello Grapeviners, in this week's update - we squashed a bunch of bugs and added some features (please do update your app? 🥹) Here’s three new features we def want to mention: More Feeds: Now you can browse 4 different feeds from the filter menu on the TOP LEFT of the app: - Popular (Recommended) - Recent - Top of the Week (New) - Top of the Month (New) Comment Peaker: Many threads on Grapevine get busy with sometimes 25+ comments. Now when replying to comments - the new peak feature helps you see the comment in context as you are replying (so you don't have to relocate the comment you are replying to as you type) Improved Design for large devices: We realized Grapevine kinda sucked on large phone screens. Hey Folks, As Grapevine enters its second year of being live, we wanted to finish the major overhaul we were building towards over the last few months. We've rolled out some big updates today - please do update your app. Here's some top changes: 1. Communities: A whole new look to communities on Grapevine, along with new features such as community sort and live member counts (screenshot attached) 2. UI: A new font, new like (upvote) button and new community icons across the app 3. 100 Private Grapevines: We are proud/happy to share that there's now 100 private company grapevines where verified employees talk amongst each other. Join your company's Grapevine now. 4. Grapes 2.0: A new definition for Grape rewards coming soon. Grapes 2.0 definition will include more value to users for creating 'chatty' posts and verifying yourselves 5. Direct Messages: Multiple changes to improve the DM experience on Grapevine. You can also DM anyone from the Grapevine team (including MS) at any time without any Grape-constraints :) 6. Gestures: You can now swipe between screens on Grapevine, you can also swipe left when a post is open to go back to home screen (on iOS) As always, keep sending us your feedback. 1. Feed Algorithm Going forward the Grapevine feed will only show posts from the communities you are actively subscribed to. Please subscribe and unsubscribe to the correct communities as per your interest 2. Discover More We have fine tuned the Discover More algorithm to make it a way for you to go deep into any topic on Grapevine. So if you start reading posts w.r.t "Software Engineer Amazon Salaries" - you will get more posts on the same or similar topic 3. Oh and yes btw, we also added markdown support so you can now write list type posts such as this one. You can do this by starting your sentences with a number or add dashes (-) before every sentence

Grapes on Grapevine: Tap on any person’s user name to see how many grapes they have 2. Trending Posts for you: Across the app you will now see personalised recommendations for popular posts that you may have missed earlier 3. GIFs in comments: Let’s see if y’all have a strong GIF game 4. YOE in Salary Cards: much requested update. Now you can see YOE across salary cards 5. Feed: A new faster and smoother feed experience 6. Bug bashing: The infinite post repeat error is solved. The image upload error is also solved along with other minor bug fixes This is not all.
