2023 our salaries haven’t grown at all. Across my group of friends at work and college, the average amount of increment I heard is close to 5%

oh please this is a list of series d+ startups, when you are 60% to 90% discounted to market comp how does increment matter. I will bet you that each of these peoples direct reports makes 2x-5x the founders comp.
don't get me started on founders salary and how bad the ecosystem is in this regard.
Life is never a straight line...there are always peaks and troughs. If you are able to survive the troughs the next peak must be taller than ever before. Same goes for stock market as well, given enough time
overall comp is decreasing as I've said before there is a 40-60% downward correction in progress for many roles and bands in tech, executed through layoffs and then multi year 0-5% increments.
Well the ones getting it are lucky. We didn't even have increments in 2022 so fuck me i guess
