Why suddenly every celeb is buying Range/Land Rover? 🧐

I tried Ola ebike service for commuting a short distance ~ 5km. The experience was good and the fare was also cheap(50 Rs.). I spoke to the driver about earnings and whether he has to give EMI for the OE bike. Then he showed me the below table - how his earnings are calculated. I got shocked at seeing the high earnings amount - upto 4.5K daily which amounts to 1.35 lac monthly! He told me that Ola ebike is for short distances only - Upto 7-8 kms. And he is able to get average 3-4 rides in 1 hour, and he also doesn't have to pay for the vehicle rent. The Charging is also free at Ola Chargers. I couldn't help but wonder how can Ola sustain with this much spending. If they're giving upto 1lac to every driver and charging the user very less, that's a lot of cash burn.

Recently I was evaluating a secondary vehicle and observed that - Thar is increasingly becoming a middle class masculinity exhibit. More valid for people those who don’t have any other personality traits. Black Thar with tints is king of this segment in tier 2/3 cities. Kudos to Mahindras for monetising the inflated egos and adding an unsafe product to Indian roads. Ladder-case chasis in the first place proves the vehicles isn’t designed for roads. Ingress/egress issues, wide body and poor controls is something to add. At the same time, I am surprised no other player is trying this “fastest growing” segment. Suzuki tried with jimny, but it looks timid and not worthy alpha-male projections. Tatas going in coupe-ish direction.

Guys, I have a monthly salary of 40000 rs(8 years in IT) and I am thinking about a switch and learning for it. My husband joined a company on Feb 5 and his monthly expected salary is around 65000 rs(5 years in fincrime). We have around 5-6 lakhs debt, which we are repaying based on requirements. We are seriously thinking about buying a car as we have a 10 month old baby and travel is difficult without a good car, hence we are planning to buy kushaq ambition automatic (~18 lakhs). We don't have money in hand thinking about taking a loan of 12 lakhs and rest by pledging gold. Do you think we made the right decision to buy a car now. We have a 15 year old Alto now.
