Does anybody know slack workspaces (community driven) for Software developers?

Especially for interview practice?

Hi guys, I am self learning about DevOps practices but sometimes the doubts remain unsolved. Can anyone please guide me about good communication channels like slack or discord for DevOps where I can clear my doubts. It will be very helpful for me.

Eg. https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=39699100 is a discussion between SWEs. There is a sub-reddit Indian Developers but not for Indian PMs (or Designers or ML persons for that matter). Are there discussion groups for Indian Product Managers?

Context: I am a software engineer with 4 years of experience. Everytime I work with a bunch of engineers (Especially Indian Startups). Most of them are workaholics. They are just working for some company full-time. They are interested in learning more about technology, making jokes about technology, following technology news, etc. That is it. No social life. (Especially after Covid). No skills in any other part of life. Their comfort zone is so small that they have developed a lifestyle of working, sleeping & watching something on laptops and that's it. They make an excellent salary but don't do anything else. Every time I meet a 35-40-year-old software engineer, it is just a physically unfit guy with an arranged marriage who is boring as a brick.

Have tried a few apps but there’s too much clutter. - Discord: Too many channels, unorganized & cluttered - Reddit: Used it long time back but not so good for productive discussions - Twitter: Frontend folks discussing same stuff over and over. - Slack: Haven’t tried yet. Do have have public communities there? - LinkedIn: Not interested in illusions created by fancy tech jargons to outscore other professionals. - Grapevine: Not ideal for my use-case. Is there any genuine app you know that can enable me to discuss tech stuff in software engineering?

I see that this channel mostly contains threads that are irrelevant to real software engineering! No one talks about building software or designing stuff. Is salary discussion and a job switch what most Indian Engineers really care about? Hoping to see more discussion on stuff like System Design, advance data structures, Databases, optimization techniques, leetcode questions, programming languages, Cloud Concepts, Machine learning, Microservices, Certification preperation etc.

Need to hire developer for couple of months. Not an org but just a bunch of ppl on whatsapp or app something.

What do you folks prefer from a communication perspective. I've been using Teams extensively but want to know more about folks who've used slack or both....what's your opinion.

Currently as a software engineer, our company’s policy is to talk/share issues via threads on slack so that the entire team engineering can see it. I personally like to talk over a google meet if facing any doubts as it’s a very quick and effective way rather than making threads and tagging people to get answer which takes time. Manager gave a warning and said don’t talk in dm and only in public channel so others can see but I violated this law by mistake and she wants to take this to upper authority by tagging senior engineer. This can lead to my termination. I accept that I did wrong, is this an issue for escalation ?
