I've been put under PIP at Unacademy

Despite meeting all targets, I've been put under PIP. The HR is saying that I have one month to improve my performance or I'll be asked to leave, and that too without severance.

I just want to know if there are similar policies at your company? Means are you not eligible for severance if you are being asked to leave under PIP?

This is just a way for the company to escape from paying severance pay.

Start looking for a new job and move on.

Be confident that’s it’s nothing to do with your skills or capabilities.

I couldn’t agree more. This is deliberate way of saying please leave. Something similar has been happening across product startups. Start updating your resume and looking elsewhere.

Unacademy is a dark hole. Get out of it before it's too late. They have layoffs going on and the company doesn't have money to pay for severance. PIP is the new trick.

Ed tech companies are a joke.

I second that. I worked in an ed tech startup before realising working in a startup is very hectic and not rewarding (in case of ed tech).

I'm in unacademy from more than 2year and always I did more than what was expected out of me but still few days back I was put under PIP so I put my paper's today 🙂

Can you put paper while being in PIP? Currently I'll be leaving within 30 days, but if I put paper, my official notice period is 2 months, I dont want to stay that long

I think it’s time to let go of this company & move towards something new ans stable. This tactics has been happening across starts ups and I have gone through the same in Nykaa.
