Nothing will change. Coaching centers will become boarding schools. Allen and Narayana are already doing it. All they need is license. Sarkari babus just trying to get their cut by making this law.

Lol, this is just Government colluding with big businesses like Allen and Narayana to eliminate their competition. Those coaching institutes have schools and will keep operating like always but the smaller ones will be forced to follow the regulations.

The law still allows for private tutors, now there can be protests claiming, it'll make poorer folks more disadvantaged who can't afford private tutors. Every major change has it's newfound protest nowadays.

Good for the kids. Just heard the news of a 18 years old kid dying due to silent heart attack while he was in coaching center. I hope focus is also shifted to children's health and sports and not just studying. This step was much needed.

Education is a concurrent list matter. Items on the concurrent list can't be enforced just by the union govt. States have to ratify at state level. Just like NEP. So all this show-off from the union govt matters to nothing. Things will continue as is or will be diluted to minimum strictures by the state govt. At the end of the day, education is a business

Don't think you can ban coaching because logically if anyone wants to learn something new can they can go attend the session. Session can be of any thing like dance, standup comedy etc. Education is no different. So it does not look this can be even legally banned.

Why/When Tuitions went from Taboo to Essential?

During our parents generation, Tuitions were viewed as a Taboo. It was perceived that only the academically weak needed Tuitions. However all of these changed quickly where we see majority of our generation opting for coaching from Class 8. For today's GenZ, it's a matter of pride if someone gets enrolled in prominent coaching institutes for JEE, AIIMS, CA, UPSC etc. What do you guys think was the social drivers for such change in attitudes? What age did you first opt for Tuition and why do you think your parents accepted tuitions for you?

Really sad to hear news coming for Kota .. and there are many more such cases in India .. I am not directly affected nor my extended family for now .. But I think the problem they are trying to fix is - Parents should not put to much pressure.. Whereas I think the problem is 1)Kids are not taught how to handle pressure 2) they are not given assurance that if you fail no problem we are there 3) Parents putting too much pressure by putting in all life savings or trying to fulfil they own desires Any other inputs to save lives of families being effected pls add . Unless we define the right problem - we cannot hope for solutions

Who do think is responsible for stress? Parents or coaching mafia?

I blame parents for this. Not that coaching centres are saints, they suck the life out of students by making them study 24/7 but the reason that child is in coaching centre is because parents put him/her there. And every suicide letter I have read from students mentions that they couldn't fulfil parents expectations. They are the reason their child is in that condition, just because they want to brag and seek validation from so called society that their child is a prodigy (and want to establish that they are the creator of this prodigy) who went to medical/IIT. And if the child doesn't act acc. to their expectations, they start gaslighting them "We gave you birth" "Maa baap bhagwan ka roop hote hai how dare you blame us Or don't listen to us" I once watched a movie (don't remember the name) where actress says "As parent we determine if our child needs tuition classes but at same time we fail to know if he/she needs therapy" Who do you think is to be blamed? Also parents on GV don't push your child if he doesn't want to fly, thinking he has wings, he may fall to death.
